AI-Enabled Teacher Productivity for Language Education
Letting educators scale structured learning without scaling workload
01 / Business Challenge
Mandarin learning institutions need to manage classes, attendance, materials, and progress — while teachers burn hours on repetitive preparation. Scaling quality teaching means scaling teacher time, which doesn't scale.
The business problem was leverage: how does an education business deliver more structured learning without linearly adding staff?
02 / Solution
An AI-assisted learning platform that helps teachers generate homework and manage classes, with teachers kept firmly in control of preview, edit, publish, and grading. The product was sold as teacher leverage and learning consistency — not as "AI replacing teachers."
03 / Execution
I led the product from concept to prototype: defined the AI-assisted education use case, shaped the teacher-productivity positioning, and designed a generation pipeline with teacher-in-the-loop control.
Key execution decisions:
- Teacher-in-the-loop — AI drafts, teacher reviews and publishes, because educators won't trust unverified content in the classroom.
- Auto-grading only where objective — subjective answers flagged for human review, preserving learning quality.
04 / Business Impact
The platform helped teachers prepare structured learning tasks faster while preserving control and classroom relevance. It showed a credible path for education businesses to expand capacity through AI without compromising outcomes.
